In contrary, if you need a full protection choose a full face helmet.  You want the advantage of each without compromise, the solution exists: the flip-up helmet.  The helmet is the basic protection, if you fall, your first reaction is to put your hands. So you need also to protect it with special gloves. The leather gloves procure you insurance against abrasion but not against the impact. For this you have racing glove with knuckle and phalange protection and Leather reinforcement on the palm. In summer why do you wear a jacket, pants and closed shoes? For the same reason to wear gloves! You will never see a real rider without one of these things.
